“Matt, I have been looking at the idea that the future is as unlimited or limited as my beliefs allow it to be. We are in the process of becoming. Becoming what? is the question. The more I understand, the more I realize I have a say in what I can become; that all possibilities are within reach...”
Matt responds:
Tamara, as we delve through our lives, the great part is that we don’t know what’s going to happen, and we don’t know why things happen in the universe as they do. I don’t really think we will know those things until we reach the other side.
When I hear of friends getting terminal illnesses and dying in horrible ways, I always say to Rose, “It’s a good thing we don’t know what will happen!”
The unknown is the great spice of life. If we go in with preconceived notions, we set ourselves up for disappointment.
It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about the journey. Some many of us are afraid of sticking our toes in the water, worrying it’ll be too cold or too hot or not hot enough... But we set ourselves up for defeat when we start into an adventure, not knowing what’s going to happen but having preconceived expectations.
I believe the universe has other plans. God has a great sense of humor. He or She allows us to do stupid things.
“Away we go!” might be a great strategy if you like going up in the sky on a wonderful Ferris wheel, but it might not be so great if you’re running straight for a cliff.
Whatever it is, it’s going to be a surprise. Very rarely will anything be what you think it’s going to be. So no matter what happens, it’s good.
Thank you for your comments, which we always enjoy,
Matt
