A reader asks Matt who he believes is the greatest of all contemporary artists.
Matt responds:

The greatest artist is anyone who constantly and judiciously stands in front of their blank canvas and makes the first move towards a new and better understanding of who they are in the world.
That’s re-created millions of times around the world among all artists, known and unknown.
I know many, many of what I call “closet artists” who never show their work but work at it constantly.
So we should all be given medals with our names engraved on one side with the caption: “Artist.” And on the other side it says: “Complete and Utter Fool.”
It’s up to us to decide which side we want to show the world.
