Hello, bloggers.
By the time you read this, you will have probably gone out and voted.
As I post this, it’s Sunday evening, November 2, 2008, and I’m hearing story after story of people standing in line from 3 hours to 10 hours to vote. To me, that is the most uplifting political statement that I have seen since I became a political junkie.
No matter what happens in our election, for the people to be able to believe that their vote counts, and to stand there for hours to exercise their right as citizens in this great country, is notice to the world that we’re still alive and well. We still have a great democracy. Maybe we made or didn’t make mistakes, but nevertheless, we really and truly care about our country, its future, and our place in this great universe.
Congratulations to all who voted.
And for those who didn’t, better luck next time.
Matt
