Matt Lamb and Oprah Winfrey

A reader remarks that Oprah Winfrey might be interested in his art and peace programs, and asks Matt if he has ever approached Oprah’s producers.

Matt responds:

I have been asked several times if we have placed our “Umbrellas for Peace” in front of The Oprah Winfrey Show’s producers.  Yes, we have, a number of times.

But I don’t know the strategy or politics or roots of appearing on national shows, although in most of the other countries I visit, I’m often on national television with my message.

One thing I have observed is that there are so many things going on in the world that your two minutes in the sunshine are probably down to two seconds now.  I’m so damned busy with just running around like a mad dog in a meathouse wondering what to eat first, that I don’t spend much time trying to penetrate markets that may or may not be interested in the peace process.

Thanks for your interest, though, and if you know anyone who can help us get on Oprah, please let us know.  On one of my many trips to Ireland, I was being interviewed on talk radio, and one of the hosts said, “I heard the host ask you a question, and 14 minutes later you were still going strong.”  So if I’m ever on Oprah, I don’t need to worry about filling the time!

Matt
