Following up on Art Basel Miami Beach show

Artist George Rodez showed his works alongside Matt’s at the recent show, Post-human:  Goodbye to Mankind, put on the Reial Cercle Artistic of Barcelona as part of activities surrounding this December’s Art Basel Miami Beach.

Mr. Rodez wrote to Matt on the blog saying what a delight it was to be part of the show with him.

Matt responds:

George, it was a great pleasure of working with you!

I enjoyed the whole group, all the time we were there.  And from the reports of other people who worked with me, there were never disagreements among the artists.  One artist wasn’t arguing about having a bigger amount of space or better light, or who was closer to the entrance, and all the other crap that sometimes goes on at shows.

I was greatly impressed with the comradery, the acceptance of the participants...  It was more like working with a loving family instead of a dysfunctional family.  We all respected one another’s work and took our place, wherever it was.

In reality we were all doing what we were supposed to be doing and showing our respect for the institution that brought us together.

I believe it shows the importance of integrity for us to represent ourselves as artists as individual carriers of messages that are the same but different.

I’m very proud to be among the group, and I was pleased to be able to come and spend the little bit of time that I did.

It was a great pleasure meeting you and enjoying your work.

Thank you for writing!

Matt
