Anniversary wishes and chocolate cake

Hello, bloggers!

Here’s a picture to share with you...

These are our children...

...gathered together for Rose’s and my 55th wedding anniversary.

That’s Rosemarie and Sheila in the back row and Colleen and Matt in the front.

We love our children very much and are very proud of them.

Thank you to all of you on the Internet...

We appreciated your Happy Anniversary greetings, which were very meaningful to us.

In our family, we always celebrate our holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays with some sort of a family dinner.

It varies where we do it.  For Thanksgiving, it’s a big dinner at the farm in Wisconsin, then a family gathering in Chicago for Christmas, individual dinners or lunches for birthdays—anything that can bring us together to share the joy of the occasion.

Because of our wanderlust, we really never know where we’re going to be, and neither do members of our family.  Only 24 hours before our anniversary dinner, my daughter Sheila found out she would have to leave for Ireland and Germany very shortly after our celebration.

But that’s our lot in life.

Luckily, we enjoy change, we enjoy the smorgasbord way that we live our life—tasting a little bit of this, a little bit of that...

We don’t look on it as challenging, we just look on it as fun.

We went to Ruth’s Chris steakhouse for our anniversary dinner, and as a surprise, the management sent out a chocolate cake for us with two candles on it.

They said to us, “We read that you said wedding cake should be chocolate cake, so here you go...”

We asked them where they read that, and they said, “On your blog!”

So you never know who’s reading the blog...

Probably our favorite chocolate cake is in Ireland, but this one was fabulous too...  It had chocolate pudding on the inside and ice cream on top.  It was very decadent!

Thanks again for your good wishes,
Matt
