I read with interest Matt’s response to the post below, on colorizing black-and-white films.  It made me think of Matt’s use of the iconic colors of black and white, and in turn this made me think of Michael Jackson’s song, “Black or White,” from the 1991 album, Dangerous.

In the lyrics, Jackson says, “If you're thinking of being my brother, it don’t matter if you’re black or white.”

Later in the song, rapper L.B.T., proclaims:  “It’s not about races, just places, faces.  Where your blood comes from is where your space is.  I’ve seen the light get duller.  I’m not going to spend my life being a color.”

This is a viewpoint consistent with Matt’s own mantra of peace, tolerance, understanding, hope, and love. The video, as you may recall, is famous for its special effects, in which faces of various races morph into one another:  a nifty and I daresay beautiful way to illustrate the fluidity of race and the importance of what Martin Luther King, Junior, called “the content of our character.”

An interesting bit of Matt Lamb trivia...  In the video, actor George Wendt plays the role of Maculay Culkin’s father.  Wendt is a longtime friend of the Lamb family, and contributes a line of praise to the dust jacket of Matt’s biography, Matt Lamb:  The Art of Success (John Wiley & Sons), which you can find here:
